Evaluation

Evaluation: Vlad the Impaler (Georgina, Dave, Meg and Shannon)

As a group we decided to create a remake of ‘Vlad the Impaler’ by Kasabian. Whilst Meg and Shannon took to the video instantly, Dave and I had trouble understanding the video and were quite reluctant to agree with creating a remake. However, we overcame our disagreement and decided on this video anyway. As we decided on the tasks for each team member, we decided that Meg would create a list of props, a cast list and shooting schedule, Shannon would do the lyrics and timings and Dave and I would create the storyboard and make a list of the shot types in the 60 second extract that we chose.
The shooting commenced on Wednesday 18th June and we split up. Meg and Shannon went to Ferriby to shoot some of the video whilst Dave and I went to Little Weighton. We did this because each of us had a location in our heads as to where looks similar enough to the video. This proved to be difficult in terms of communication, however enhanced our video by providing us with the best possible locations to suit the video and also meant that each of us had a similar amount of work to do and we all learnt something to do with camera work and angles.
We also divided the editing between the same pairs. This was mainly because of the lack of space around one computer for four of us, however, proved to be useful to allow us all again to develop our understanding of editing and will help us if we choose to progress to next year doing A2 work.

Filming each part of the video varied in difficulty, as we had to shoot a lot of footage in order to choose the best part of it to put in our video. Also the shots were difficult to get to be the same as the original video. Despite the list of shot types that we created it still became difficult to place the angle in the right place and to film tracking and pan shots.
